Reader

Access control readers identify the person at the door and pass the credential to the controller. BSD Infotech supplies card readers for ID and MIFARE cards, fingerprint readers, and charging/acquisition bases, matched to the controller or terminal used on the project.

Access control card reader, fingerprint reader and base

Reader Types

Card reader

Reads 125 kHz ID or 13.56 MHz MIFARE cards and sends the number to the controller, typically over Wiegand. See the KR500 and KR600 readers.

Fingerprint reader

Used for enrolment or identification in biometric access and attendance. See fingerprint readers.

Charging / acquisition base

A base for compatible devices to charge and transfer data. Model and compatibility details are confirmed on enquiry.

Entry and Exit Readers

Many doors use a reader outside for entry and a second reader inside for exit, so every movement is recorded and anti-passback rules can be applied by the controller. The reader type must match the cards in use and the controller’s input.

Frequently Asked Questions

We offer a card reader, a fingerprint reader, and a charging/acquisition base as access control accessories.
It is one of the reader accessories listed alongside the card reader and fingerprint reader for supporting the device.
A Wiegand reader sends the card number to an access controller using the Wiegand interface, which most controllers and standalone terminals accept. The KR500 and KR600 readers use 26-bit or 34-bit Wiegand output by default.
An exit reader records when people leave and lets the controller enforce anti-passback, so one card cannot be used to let several people in.
