Card & Tag
Cards and tags are the credentials people carry in an access control or attendance system. The reader identifies the card or tag number and the controller decides whether to open the door. BSD Infotech supplies ID (125 kHz), MIFARE (13.56 MHz), HID and NFC cards and tags, and location tags for guard checkpoints.
Credential Types
ID cards (125 kHz)
Low-frequency proximity cards that carry a number. Widely used for basic door access and attendance. See proximity cards.
MIFARE cards (13.56 MHz)
Contactless smart cards with memory, used for access, attendance, cashless payment and ID. See MIFARE cards.
HID cards
For sites that already use HID readers and need matching credentials.
Tags & NFC tags
Keyfob and sticker-style tags for access, and NFC tags readable by compatible phones. See RFID key tags.
Location tags at checkpoints
ID or MIFARE tags fixed at patrol checkpoints so a guard’s visit can be recorded when the tag is read.
Choosing Cards for Your System
Match the card frequency and type to the readers you use or plan to install: 125 kHz ID readers read ID cards, MIFARE readers read 13.56 MHz cards. For higher security, choose cards with cryptographic protection. Cards can be printed with your logo, photo and employee details — see custom card printing.
