Power Supply

An access control power supply powers the controller, reader and electric lock of a door. BSD Infotech supplies 12 V, 3 A switch-mode power supplies with and without battery leads, and spare parts, so doors keep working as designed during power cuts.

12 V access control power supply

Power Supply Options

Without battery leads

For doors where a battery backup is not required.

With battery leads

Connects a backup battery so the lock, reader and controller continue working during a power failure.

12 V, 3 A switch power supply

Output for typical access control doors with a lock, reader and controller.

Spare parts

Replacement parts for existing power supplies.

Sizing and Backup

Add up the current drawn by the lock, reader and controller and leave headroom; electromagnetic locks draw current all the time they are locked. Where a door must stay locked during an outage, use a supply with battery leads and a suitable battery, and consider how an electromagnetic lock behaves when power is lost.

Frequently Asked Questions

We offer a power supply without battery leads, a power supply with battery leads, and a 12V, 3A switch power supply.
Yes, spare parts for the power supply are available as a separate accessory.
Without backup, a power cut can stop the reader and controller and, with an electromagnetic lock, leave the door unlocked. A supply with battery leads keeps the door working during short outages.
It depends on the total current of all locks, readers and controllers. Each project is sized so the supply has enough capacity with headroom.
