Exit Button

An exit button (request-to-exit switch) is fitted inside an access-controlled door so people can leave without presenting a card or fingerprint. Pressing it tells the controller or lock to release the door for a set time. BSD Infotech supplies standard exit buttons, non-contact (touchless) exit buttons and remote key switches.

Exit button

A push button mounted beside the door on the secure side. The most common way to release an access-controlled door from inside.

Non-contact exit button

Releases the door when a hand is held in front of the sensor, without touching the button — useful for hygiene-sensitive areas.

Remote key

A wireless remote that lets reception or security staff release the door from a distance.

Where the Exit Button Connects

The exit button is wired to the exit input of the access controller, standalone terminal or security relay box, or directly into the lock power circuit, depending on the system. An emergency break glass is a separate safety device that cuts power to the lock in an emergency; see other access control accessories.
