What Is a Mobile Computer?
A mobile computer is a rugged handheld Android device built for business data capture. Unlike a consumer phone, it combines an integrated barcode scan engine, optional RFID or NFC, a replaceable battery and a sealed, drop-tested housing, and runs your business application to record stock, orders, assets or deliveries at the point of work.

Mobile Computers for Barcode Data Capture
Every selected model supports barcode scanning, with the scan engine chosen as a configuration option on most models. The C72 offers the widest engine choice, including DPM and mid-range imagers; the C61 and MC51S list long-range scanner options. Typical uses:

Mobile Computers with RFID
Selected Chainway handhelds can be configured with UHF RFID to read many tags at once without line of sight:
- C61 and C61 Cold Storage — optional UHF back clip with handle
- C66 — optional built-in UHF (short range) or UHF back clip (longer range)
- C72 — C72 UHF RFID reader version with UHF handle
- MC51 — built-in UHF version; MC51S — optional built-in UHF or UHF back clip
Applications include asset tracking, inventory, warehouse stock counts, laundry and linen, retail and manufacturing. Pair them with the right RFID tags and RFID asset management.
NFC-Enabled Handheld Terminals
Every selected model lists 13.56 MHz NFC (on the MC51S, not on its built-in UHF version). Uses include reading NFC and smart cards for identification, membership, attendance, access and asset identification. Card-payment acceptance is not claimed.
Keypad Mobile Computers for Warehouse & Industrial Operations
Physical keys speed up repetitive entry of quantities and codes. The C61 offers 27/37/47-key options, and the MC62 and MC21 are compact keypad models. The C61, MC62 and MC21 touch panels are specified to work with gloves and wet hands.
Cold Storage Mobile Computers
Consumer phones are not designed for freezers. The C61 Cold Storage is rated -30 °C to 50 °C with a low-temperature touch screen, and Chainway quotes 5.5 hours of continuous scanning at -30 °C (500 ms interval) on its 6400 mAh battery.
5G Mobile Computers
The MC51 5G lists 5G NR bands alongside 4G LTE and Wi-Fi 6E. 5G is useful for field and outdoor work where good 5G coverage exists; most in-building warehouse applications work well on Wi-Fi or 4G.
Mobile Computers with Fingerprint or Printer
The C66 offers an optional fingerprint sensor for identity verification. The C75 has a built-in 58 mm thermal printer (85 mm/s) for receipts and tickets in the field.

Depending on the model: pistol grips and battery handles, UHF back clips, spare batteries, charging cradles, rubber boots and wrist straps. BSD confirms accessory compatibility per model when quoting.
