RFID Reader 85 is a fixed UHF RFID reader built to be mounted at one reading point and left there. It reads multiple EPC Class 1 Gen2 or ISO 18000-6B tags at more than 4 m, depending on tag and antenna. It sits in an IP65 enclosure and reports tag reads to your system over RS232, RS485 or Wiegand.

What Is RFID Reader 85?
Reader 85 is a fixed UHF RFID reader with an inbuilt antenna (an SMA female antenna connection is also listed), and it can read multiple tags at the same time. It works in the 865–867 MHz band, and the frequency can be set to your requirement. RF power is adjustable from 20 to 30 dBm.
It sits between the two extremes of BSD Infotech’s UHF range. It reads much further than the desktop Reader 107, so it can watch a reading point instead of a desk. It does not have the 15 m range of the Reader 88 or the four antenna ports of the 4 Port RFID Reader. Its IP65 enclosure and wide operating temperature range suit installations beyond a clean office.

How Reader 85 Fits Into an RFID Solution
An RFID reader on its own does not track anything. It is one part of a system: tags on the items, an antenna, the reader, software, and the database or business application where the records live.
Reader 85’s role: it is a fixed checkpoint. Tags are enrolled first (for example on a desktop reader such as Reader 107). Reader 85 then records each tagged item that passes or is presented at its location, and the software turns those reads into movements, counts or exceptions.
